Hi John, Stephany here. Today, on International Equal Pay Day, we should all be outraged: Women are still being robbed of their fair share EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Everyone is always talking about how the "rent is too d*$n high," and sustainable living feels out of reach. But under these conditions we know who is truly feeling the brunt—women, especially women of color, who are consistently being underpaid.
More than 300,000 Black women have been forced out of the job market under this administration.
John, on average, women earn 77 cents for every dollar earned by men for work of equal value—with even wider disparities for women with children and Black and Brown women…
That’s not fairness. That’s not equality. It is systemic injustice designed to keep women, especially women of color, out of positions of power and leadership.
While corporations and right-wing extremists benefit from keeping women underpaid, underfunded, and underestimated, we know the truth: women’s labor is the backbone of our families, our communities, and our economy.
Movement for Freedom is fighting back. Your support helps us train and uplift women organizers, invest in grassroots campaigns–many led by women, and build a future where paychecks and opportunities are equal.
