Donald Trump and his Republican allies just made their most direct assault yet on the First Amendment. Yesterday, Trump weaponized the FCC to pressure Disney to take Jimmy Kimmel Live off air indefinitely. 

Think about that: a late-night comedian, silenced by the government and punished for using comedy to speak truth to power. That’s not freedom — that’s authoritarianism. 

We can’t afford to be silent. If Trump and his allies think they can dictate which voices are heard in America, then we will have to raise ours louder than ever.
