Abigail Spanberger, former Congresswoman turned Virginia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, knows this better than anyone: Democrats legislate. Republicans obstruct.
While the General Assembly passed budget provisions that would have provided additional state and federal Medicaid reimbursements to nursing homes to help support staff growth efforts, Republican Governor Glen Youngkin vetoed the effort to bolster staffing efforts at nursing homes. [[link removed]]
When I was in the General Assembly, I served in both split governments and in Democratic governments. And I can tell you, it’s difficult to get anything done at the state level when you have someone vetoing all your hard work at the top.
