Dear John,
After two years of inaction, Egale Canada is once again calling on the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to hold public consultation on non-Canadian broadcasting regulations and the continued distribution of Fox News in Canada.
Following a formal complaint < [link removed] > by Egale, in September 2023, the CRTC committed to modernizing its outdated regulations for non-Canadian broadcasting. Now two years later, no action has been taken - even as Fox News continues to broadcast abusive content targeting 2SLGBTQI communitiesand fueling hatred.
Egale has tracked repeated examples of Fox News programming that appear to contravene Canada’s broadcasting regulations, including recent commentary that demeaned trans women as “cowards,” “failed men,” and falsely linked them to sexual predators.
