While Labour holds its annual conference in Liverpool, The People’s Assembly will be there to stand against austerity, war, and privatisation. Together, we will bring the voices of communities, workers, and campaigns demanding Welfare Not Warfare and defending our public services.

Saturday 27 September

National Palestine Demonstration: Welfare Not Warfare Bloc
Thousands will march in Liverpool to protest the Labour Party Conference, demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza and justice for the Palestinian people. The People’s Assembly will be mobilising as part of this mass demonstration, marching under the banner Welfare Not Warfare.

As the government slashes NHS, schools, housing, and welfare funding while pouring billions into weapons and war, we will say loudly: money for public services, not for war.

Assemble with us and march for Gaza, for the NHS, and for justice everywhere.

Sunday 28 September

Defend Liverpool Women’s Hospital: Save Our NHS
Campaigners to save Liverpool Women’s Hospital will take their struggle to the Labour Party Conference. Years of austerity and underfunding have left this centre of excellence under threat. The campaign calls for investment, not cuts.

The People’s Assembly stands in solidarity with this fight, which is part of the broader movement against austerity that is devastating our NHS.

PCS “Mega-Picket”: Defend Workers’ Rights
PCS members at pensions administrator MyCSP have already taken 10 weeks of strike action. Their demand is simple: the right to representation in discussions over the TUPE transfer to Capita.

No New PFI in Our NHS: We Own It Action
Labour promised in its 2024 manifesto that the NHS would remain publicly owned and funded. However, they are now considering bringing back the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) – a disastrous policy that has drained billions from the NHS.

The final decision is expected to be announced in the Autumn Budget on 26 November. The Labour conference is the moment to say: No new PFI in our NHS!
