John, earlier today, I introduced a Constitutional Amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United, to protect our elections from unrestrained spending by wealthy donors and corporations, and to allow for public financing of elections.
Add your name as a citizen co-sponsor today.
Of all the challenges to our country and our democracy, unfettered corporate spending is among the most pernicious. John, I'm working to fix this.
Let me explain:
The Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United opened the door for corporations to pour billions of dark money dollars into elections.
Upending our democratic process by anonymous and unrestricted spending weakens our democracy.
We’ve seen how damaging this has been for our elections.
This amendment will keep big money out of politics and bring back power to the American people – protecting the right to vote freely.
Our democracy is broken under this system. Drowning out or diminishing a voter’s voice with the power of large corporate spending is at odds with how our system is supposed to work.
John, add your name and become a citizen co-sponsor of my Constitutional Amendment to overturn Citizens United and reject the corrupting influence of dark money in our elections.
Our democracy is fragile, and with leaders like Donald Trump trying to further bend and break the rules, it’s more important than ever that we preserve and defend our values.
Thank you for adding your support to our Constitutional Amendment, John.
