The government will run out of money on October 1 if Republicans don’t pass a budget.
But none of us in good conscience can co-sign a government that just ripped away health care for moms giving birth, elderly loved ones who need wheelchairs, and babies who need check-ups — all to hand that money over to billionaire CEOs instead.
The Republicans led by Donald Trump have created a full-blown health care crisis.
Since they passed their “One Big Beautiful Bill” — which Trump is now scrambling to rebrand because Americans hate it so much — 15 million people now won’t have health care benefits.
Nursing homes are closing. Community clinics are shuttering. Hospitals are filled to the brim with patients.
And in under 30 days, millions and millions of people are going to get letters from their health insurer saying their premiums will go up — by a lot.
That’s why I’ve taken a stand to say: If Republicans want Democratic votes on our government budget, they need to reverse their giant health care cuts. This is worth fighting for — and I’m not backing down.
We want health care for the American people. If Republicans don’t, then they need to explain that, not just to Democrats, but to every single American.
They need to explain why newborn babies should lose health care just so that Jeff Bezos can bankroll his third yacht.
They need to explain why seniors should be tossed out of their nursing homes so that Trump can fund ICE rounding up citizens in unmarked vans.
They need to explain why rural hospitals should close so that companies like Meta can get more tax handouts.
This is a moment for Democrats to put up a fight. We should refuse to roll over while Donald Trump and the Republicans rip away health care from millions of people — many of them the most vulnerable among us.
I’m going to keep up this fight with all I’ve got.
Thanks for being a part of this,
