John — I want to tell you about a place where our movement is on the brink of something major: Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

In 2023, the Luzerne County Council was dominated by Republicans. There were 10 Republicans and just one Democrat who was terming out. That year, JanePAC backed a slate of five candidates organized by a local PAC, Luzerne United. Four of them won. Suddenly, a council that Oily Republicans had controlled for years came into play.

Now, in 2025, we are just two seats away from flipping Luzerne’s County Council to a pro-climate majority. That would mean real action on environmental justice in a county that is scarred by multiple Superfund sites, abandoned mines, and fracking and industrial pollution.

That’s why I am proud to announce that JanePAC is endorsing Dawn Simmons, Chris Belles, and Denise Williams for Luzerne County Council this November.

What happens in Luzerne County will echo far beyond Pennsylvania. But, too often, local races like these go overlooked and underfunded, which means our endorsed candidates truly depend on people like you to help them reach and mobilize the voters they need to win. Meet Our Climate Champions

🌏 Dawn Simmons, a veteran and community advocate, is fighting for clean water and against new fossil fuel infrastructure.

🌏 Chris Belles, a data analyst and community volunteer, is focused on clean energy investments that create local jobs and make county operations more sustainable.

🌏 Denise Williams, a nurse and former chair of the county Board of Elections, is leading the charge to cut emissions and expand renewable energy access.
