We’re at a crossroads. In the last two decades, the world has made remarkable progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS due in no small part to the United States’ compassion and leadership in the global response.

But this progress may soon start to unravel if the US does not continue to lead. In 2024, 630,000 lives were lost and 1.3 million people were newly infected. This is unacceptable, not when we’re finally getting ahead of the disease.
