John – this is Congresswoman Julie Johnson with an important and concerning update.
First, Attorney General Pam Bondi went after our First Amendment rights and said that the Trump Administration would begin to “target” individuals.
Then, Trump made this alarming threat to an ABC news reporter who called out his hypocrisy: “Maybe we should go after you.”
This is a direct attack on our rights as Americans, and I will not sit back while the Trump administration works to undermine our Constitution.
The First Amendment is crystal clear: “Congress shall make no law… prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
But Trump seems to have added his own clause at the end: “...unless your free speech upsets the Crybaby-in-Chief.”
Donald Trump and I swore the same oath to support and defend the Constitution. The difference is, I intend on upholding that oath.
