John, I want to give you a quick update on the redistricting battle happening across South Carolina and the country, and then ask you to donate to my father’s campaign.
The Republican running for governor in South Carolina -- where Republicans already hold supermajorities in both chambers -- would like to see a congressional map that breaks up the only majority-Black district in the state.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I have no doubt Republicans can be successful in every part of our state…That will help increase Republican control of Congress and help President (Donald) Trump pass his agenda…Every vote counts toward a conservative Speaker Mike Johnson rather than a liberal Speaker Hakeem Jeffries of New York City.”

It’s not just South Carolina. You may have seen that under pressure from President Trump, Texas redrew their congressional maps -- and now states like Florida, Missouri, and Indiana are attempting to do the same.
When politicians can’t win on their ideas -- like the GOP's budget bill that will kick millions of people off of their health care so billionaires can get tax cuts -- they rig the system. Republicans are using redistricting as an electoral weapon to silence communities of color and shore up their power.
The bottom line: Republican lawmakers are running scared because they know the only way they can win is to cheat. We have an opportunity to make their plans backfire but we need your help to continue organizing and informing the public about the stakes.
Please donate before tonight’s mid-month deadline to help protect SC’s only majority-Black district and fight for free and fair elections around the country.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thank you for standing with my father,
Angela
