John,
Serving as an out LGBTQ+ lawmaker in red states isn’t easy — but it’s where some of the bravest fights for our democracy are taking place right now.
In Missouri, Representatives Jeremy Dean and Elizabeth Fuchs literally camped out on the House floor for days to protest an extreme gerrymandering plan. They were joined by their colleagues Ian Mackey, Jeff Hales, and Wick Thomas, who stood shoulder-to-shoulder in opposition. Though the map ultimately passed, these leaders showed the country what it means to stand up for fairness and representation against overwhelming odds.
And in Florida, Senators and Representatives Shevrin Jones, Carlos Guillermo Smith, Michele Rayner, and Mitchell Rosenwald are pushing back against mid-decade redistricting schemes that could silence voters and entrench bigoted lawmakers in power. Their courage in the face of hostility is nothing short of inspiring.
These leaders are on the frontlines of the fight to protect democracy — and we need to let them know they’re not alone! Add your name and let them know you see them fighting for our rights!

We’re grateful to every LGBTQ+ elected official who serves in tough environments where their voices are most needed — and most under attack. They remind us that progress is possible everywhere, even when the odds are stacked against us.
Together, let’s send them a message of solidarity and strength. Add your name to stand with our LGBTQ+ lawmakers and show them that people across the country are rooting for their success!
Thank you,
LGBTQ+ Victory Institute
