The cost of Trump & Matt Hall’s chaos: $1,600 per Michigan family

Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer showed us what real leadership looks like.

She laid out a vision for Michigan’s economy that protects working families and creates stability for all Michiganders amid Donald Trump’s reckless tariffs and Matt Hall’s partisan chaos in the state House.

Trump and Hall’s plans will cause over 453,000 Michiganders to lose health insurance. 123,000 will lose food assistance. More than 268,000 could lose their jobs. Four rural hospitals are at risk of closing. Electricity bills will rise nearly 5%.

The median Michigan household will pay $1,600 more each year thanks to Trump’s tariffs and Matt Hall’s budget. Instead of fixing these problems, Matt Hall is wasting time throwing partisan tantrums while JD Vance is in Michigan today to lie about the damage Republicans are causing.

Michigan Democrats are standing up, sounding the alarm, and organizing in every community to fight back so we can protect families from this chaos. But to win in 2026, we need to build the grassroots foundation now.
