An update on proposed changes to the California constitution from Congressman Ken Calvert

Dear John,

Protecting the voting rights of Californians continues to be one of my top priorities. The best way to improve election integrity and conduct free and fair elections is to follow our state and federal constitutions.

As you may know, California has recently undertaken an unprecedented mid-decade redistricting effort. Under the policy passed by the Democratic majority in Sacramento and signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, the power to draw congressional district maps would be stripped from the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and given to politicians in the California legislature. Ultimately, Californians will vote on a ballot measure this November on whether or not our state moves forward with this process to drastically change our state constitution.

New polling shows 82% of Americans want independent commissions, like the one voters put in place in California, to draw the district maps, not politicians.

I want to hear from you:

Do you support the California Legislature's decision to put a redistricting effort on the ballot for voters?*
