Appeals court rejects Trump’s attempt to fire Federal Reserve governor

- Yesterday a federal appeals court rejected ([link removed] ) Trump’s attempt to fire Fed Gov. Lisa Cook, ruling she was denied even “minimal process” and can’t be removed as a result. The decision keeps Cook on the Fed’s board ahead of a key policy meeting this week.

- The White House today said it would appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. The high court earlier this year ruled the president could not remove members of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors like Cook without cause because the central bank "is a uniquely structured, quasi-private entity that follows in the distinct historical tradition of the First and Second Banks of the United States."
