Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Continuing to Defend America and the Rule of Law Following the Loss of Charlie Kirk

Last week, my friend Charlie Kirk was horrifically killed while was using his first amendment right to free speech, participating in peaceful political discourse with students on a college campus where argument and debate are historically supposed to be celebrated. Instead of just another day and another stop on his tour to win over and change young minds, this day turned tragic, as Charlie was assassinated in public view while peacefully engaging in debate – something many of us, and especially those who hold political office do each and every day, a historically sacred component of our Constitutional Republic.

The day before the assassination took place, I stood on the floor of the House of Representatives expressing warning for our country and all Americans due to the rising threats created by the shadow funding of Left-wing radical organizations that work to take America further from the western culture and values that built this nation. I called out radical judges and politicians – often propped up and funded by anti-crime enthusiasts – who are working furiously to advance a radical Marxist ideology that undermines the safety and security of our communities – an ideology that was fully displayed in the tragic murder of Charlie.

Watch the recent clips of my floor speech here and here.

We must do more. The day after Charlie’s assassination, I led many of my colleagues in a letter to Speaker Johnson, Chairman James Comer, and Chairman Jim Jordan requesting the House of Representatives establish a new committee to investigate these radical organizations and their assault on America and the rule of law. Read the full letter here.

And as always, I am proud of the district and great constituents I have the honor to represent in Congress. I was proud to see, and have my staff attend, the Kerrville community’s prayer vigil for Charlie Kirk. Moments like this, on the back of continued grief held by the Kerrville community in the wake of the recent floods, is what makes the Texas Hill Country different than anywhere else in the world.

I believe in the first amendment, same as I did last week and same as I do every day, but political terrorism will not be tolerated. I hope the State of Utah and the judicial system deliver proper justice to the perpetrator of this attack. We will continue to pray for Charlie Kirk’s wife Erika, their children, his family, his friends, and the Turning Point USA staff during this difficult time.

The SAVE Act Rally in Washington, DC

Last week, I was honored to address hundreds of patriots from around the country at a rally in support of my bill, H.R.22, the SAVE Act. The SAVE Act is as simple as this – only American citizens can vote in American elections.

The American people have spoken, and they want the bill at President Trump’s desk for a signature. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to take it up and pass it as soon as possible.

24 Years Later. We Remember.

Last week, we honored the 2,977 Americans who lost their lives on 09/11/2001.

May God bless the fallen Americans, first responders, and their families who made sacrifices on that day and continue to do so.

Post-Hill County Flood Information

Federal assistance for Flood impacts extended to September 28, 2025

Homeowners and renters who were affected by the July flooding in Central Texas now have until Sunday, Sept. 28, to apply for federal disaster assistance if your home or personal property sustained damage not covered by insurance.
Under the major presidential disaster declaration, 10 counties were designated for assistance from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration for the July 2-18 storms and flooding: Burnet, Guadalupe, Kerr, Kimble, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis and Williamson.

FEMA works closely with the Small Business Administration, which provides disaster loans to homeowners, renters, nonprofit organizations and businesses of all sizes.

The fastest way to apply for FEMA assistance is online at DisasterAssistance.gov and you will need an email address to apply. You may also use the FEMA mobile app or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621- 3362. Helpline specialists speak many languages and phone lines are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT daily. If you use a relay service, captioned telephone or other service, you can give FEMA your number for that service.

To receive in-person assistance, you may visit any Disaster Recovery Center. For locations and hours, use your ZIP code to search FEMA.gov/DRC. To view an accessible video, review What You Need to Know Before Applying for FEMA Assistance.

To apply for a loan from the Small Business Administration, go to SBA.gov/disaster. You may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or email [email protected].

For the latest information about the Texas recovery, visit fema.gov/disaster/4879.

Follow FEMA Region 6 on social media at x.com/FEMARegion6 and at facebook.com/FEMARegion6/.

Please be aware of fraud:

FEMA has issued public alerts about scams associated with disaster recovery efforts.

  • Claiming to be from FEMA but lacking a photo ID
  • Asking for payment in exchange for disaster aid
  • Requesting banking or personal info

If you receive a letter or visit from FEMA but didn’t apply for aid, contact the FEMA Fraud Branch at [email protected] or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Many residents are receiving letters from FEMA that say “declined” at the top. This can be because FEMA needs more information to approve a claim.
