Dear Jack,
In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s tragic assassination, many across our nation are asking themselves how they can carry forward the causes he held so dearly: faith, family, and country. Charlie exemplified what it meant to be a happy warrior—joyfully standing for truth, cherishing the splendor of family, and celebrating the gift of faith. As we reflect on his legacy, we want to invite you to join us in honoring and celebrating those same values here in North Carolina.
Many of us find ourselves asking the question of what we should do next. After much reflection, and as fellow believers, we believe our response should be threefold: grieving, growing, and going.
1. Grieving:
Grieving is an entirely biblical and healthy response to something as tragic as Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Jesus—who himself wept—reminds us in the Beatitudes that “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). Perhaps it is our profound ability to grieve as Christians that leads us, not to violence or destruction of cities, but to hold memorials, prayer vigils, and gatherings of hope. As Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
In addition to bringing our grief before the Lord, Scripture calls us to “weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15). On Sunday, September 21st, we will have the opportunity to do just that. Turning Point USA will be holding a memorial service for Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Doors open at 8 a.m., and the program begins at 11 a.m. Major outlets—including Turning Point and 12News+—will carry the livestream.

2. Growing:
In addition to grieving, we must also ask: how can we grow from this? How do we respond in a way worthy of Charlie’s sacrifice and character?
That’s why we are moving forward with a special event this Sunday evening, September 21st, at The Kings’ Chapel in Raleigh, co-hosted with our friends there. Pastor Grant Castleberry and Walt Heyer will join us for a discussion titled: “Politics, Murder, and Spiritual War: A Conversation About How Charlie Kirk Died & What the Church Should Do Now.”
This free event will be an opportunity for us to gather, reflect, and grow the pro-values movement in our state. More details and a flyer will follow in the coming days.
3. Going:
Finally, we must go forward boldly. Charlie fought for life, family, and freedom—and so do we. Since our inception, NC Values has worked tirelessly to defend the unborn, strengthen families, protect parental rights, and uphold religious liberty across our state.
This is not just something we do in moments of crisis—it’s our daily mission. All throughout the year, our team is engaged in advancing pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom policies here in North Carolina. In the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing from us with opportunities to take part in specific campaigns that will allow you to channel your grief, gratitude, and convictions into meaningful action.
