Goldstein For Congress - Please Subscribe and also visit us at www.goldsteinforcongress.com While many rushed to put out something regarding the political terrorist act that took the life of Charlie Kirk, I felt it was important to turn internally and reflect. Sometimes it’s not the first story that matters and I have taken one from the Israelis - want the real story wait 2 days. Charlie Kirk’s untimely assassination evoked memories in my family of the assassination of JFK and the question of: Where were you on November 22, 1963? Despite a lack of social media, every patriotic American knew where they were that day. In more recent times, it was: Where were you on September 11, 2001? 24 years later it is: Where were you on September 10, 2025? For me, I was in Washington DC with several leaders of the Druze Community. They were addressing a powerful group of Christian leaders so they could bring a message back to their community and their government offices that they represent that there was a September 11th genocide in Syria to the Druze people and other religious and ethnic minorities by the same Al-Qaeda forces that attacked America and threatened our democracy. The message was that 18 percent of the Suwayda province of Syria is Christian and they suffer the same fate as the Druze. I was sitting in my chair when a dear friend, who was just on his way out came back into this house and whispered Charlie was shot. This man was a dear friend of Charlie; he then departed with tears in his eyes. From that moment, I watched the wave of the audience from their own social media feeds as they received that message. It was reminiscent of watching fear travel during multiple running of the bulls events I did in Pamplona for my 21st birthday present which was not to die. It was fitting as a man of Jewish faith to be in a room of Christians when that news was received and I am grateful that I had a community around me that I could be present for to comfort and to be comforted. We ended that meeting in prayer for the genocide in Syria and for Charlie Kirk and his family. As I have followed Charlie Kirk over the years, I have witnessed a man who had strong Christian faith wake up a nation to political engagement. He was a driving force behind President Trump’s re-election. Charlie’s Turning Point gave conservatives and those curious about conservative ideas a platform and a place to learn on the most hostile American territory - Higher Education. The timing of Charlie’s death on the eve of September 11th was no coincidence. It is fitting that his group is called Turning Point. Charlie’s murder is a turning point for so many reasons. For those in recovery or families around recovery, there is a passage in Chapter 5 - How it Works: Remember that we deal with alcohol - cunning, baffling, powerful! Without help it is too much for us. But there is One who has all power - that One is God. May you find him now. Half measures availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point. We asked His protection and care with complete abandon. Charlie Kirk’s platform offered a place where ideas of different political, personal and spiritual ideologies could be expressed in an open forum (from his perspective) while being typically trolled from his counter-perspective. The Birth of Political Cancel Culture: Political rhetoric and cancel culture began circa 2014 and went full throttle on November 8 and the early morning of November 9, 2016 with the victory of Donald J Trump over Hillary Clinton (the first endorsed female president candidate). It was this victory and loss by Hillary that America lost the ability to have civilized conversations about differing political, social and religious viewpoints with a modicum of decorum. Growing up, I was taught that many Republicans and Democrats in the halls of Congress were friends. This was due to a political debate process where both sides took the time to know their arguments and their opponent’s counter arguments. This intellectual approach to issues allowed for debate and mutual respect and the achievement of progress for our nation. This was also true of Supreme Court justices with the example of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia. When the day was done, many of these politicians, regardless of party lines, grabbed a drink together. Our Congress had a camaraderie that surpassed political ideology as these Congressmen and Congresswomen served the people first and not just their party and realized that they needed each other to pass legislation. America’s Turning Point - November 9, 2016 The Turning Point for America was the early morning of November 9, 2016 when a sea of Hillary Clinton supporters waited for an address from Hillary at the Center and she left them hanging. They were never all gathered again in the same room as these political volunteers and paid supporters left that early morning and Hillary never conceded or gave a speech. These loyal supporters were mostly young voters and females. They were crying. There was no mechanism and no forum for these supporters to go through the 5 stages of political grief. There was no closure and no guidance from Hillary and her campaign. She abandoned ship and this abandonment also caused more long-term issues. They left that building rudderless and no outlet to channel their feelings. As someone who was in New York City with my conservative views, there were places I could not go as the negativity towards President Trump’s victory fueled the era of hatred of the radical left against the radical right ideologies. In New York City and many other Urban areas, the belief was we had the first African-American President with Obama and Hillary was the guaranteed first Female President based on her political accomplishments to date and her gender. It was the Age of Entitlement ushered in on the Hillary campaign that blossomed into an Era of protests that caused death and destruction. The Importance of Charlie Kirk and Turning Point Charlie Kirk fought so hard to expose and inform the electorate. We must not forget the George Floyd movement, Antifa, the takeover of Seattle, BLM, Free Palestine and on and on and on and the vitriol that followed. The Liberal hatred became the message. This must be contrasted with Trump’s failed Assassination attempt and the support that broke out. No cities were looted. The Charlie Kirk Effect In the days following Charlie’s untimely death, we have witnessed miracles of peaceful vigils and popular icons (that we would have never expected) sharing love and support for Charlie Kirk. These Americans and supporters of Charlie Kirk worldwide channeled their efforts to create forums for those in mourning to comfort and be comforted. This is the foundation that Americans are unifying in their faith to build upon. His death and the 24th anniversary of 9-11-01 were a tragic reminder that Never Forget 9-11 has to be remembered again with present day terrors for us to be woken up to what is really going on. Charlie Kirk’s life was a profound journey that was political and driven by faith and in the past few years, Charlie’s focus was Faith first. He led by attraction and not promotion of his Christian faith and more youth moved to God. Last Sunday, youth flocked to church. This is a beautiful movement, now being called the Charlie Kirk effect. Men purchased suits and expressed appreciation for being woken up to Faith. Faith is desperately needed today where America, a nation built on faith has lost its way. A lack of faith allows fear to enter in and dominate the political landscape. There are also a lot of Christians and Jews in Name Only that do not practice religion. As we remember Charlie Kirk, we focus on his legacy to open dialogue against differing viewpoints, the deep love for God, Family and Country and his unfinished work to unite this nation through faith.
