Following the death of Democratic stalwart Rep. Raúl Grijalva, his daughter Adelita Grijalva is running to succeed him — but Republicans see this as their chance to flip a longtime blue stronghold red.

They’re pouring money and attention into this low-turnout special election, hoping that voters stay home while their MAGA base turns out.

With early voting already in motion and Election Day coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 23, the margin could come down to a few hundred votes.
