Americares is doing everything we can to get critical aid to survivors. We’re helping fund a mother and child clinic that provides lifesaving medical care, including treatment for acute malnutrition, breastfeeding counseling and mental health support. Right now, the clinic is relocating to the South of Gaza away from the ground offensive. We are also ready to mobilize shipments of medical aid when border access improves.
This ground offensive deepens the humanitarian crisis in Gaza where famine is confirmed – over 500,000 people are currently facing starvation, and more than 300 people have already starved to death, including 130 children, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. And another 1 million people are on the brink of famine and facing very high acute malnutrition and risk of death.
Since October 2023, Americares has provided 35 tons of essential medicine and medical supplies to Gaza, including enough medicine to fill more than 350,000 prescriptions, supported medical care for over 43,000 patients and funded mental health programs reaching 21,000 people in Gaza.
