Team — I want to take a moment and pull back the curtain to explain what it takes to power an Independent campaign for U.S. Senate.
But before I do, will you consider making a grassroots contribution to support our campaign?
One of the dark secrets of politics is that federal candidates like me are expected to dedicate at least 20 to 30 hours each week calling donors and asking for money. It’s literally a part-time job in and of itself.
Call time is not spent writing policy, talking with constituents, or working on issues that matter. It’s an inherently corrupt system. If a candidate spends 30 hours a week begging donors for big checks, whose interests are they really going to advocate once they’re elected?
Hint, it ain’t regular people.
That’s why we’re building something different here. A truly independent campaign that is accountable to South Dakotans, not partisan donors signing big checks.
South Dakota’s current Senator Mike Rounds and other establishment candidates like him can rely on calling a few donors here and there to contribute thousands of dollars in one go, but not our campaign.
We have to put in the work and build a grassroots coalition that will help us stand toe-to-toe with the big donors behind extreme candidates.
Your contribution is fundamental to our success as a campaign for trustworthy, independent leadership powered by and for South Dakotans. Can I count on your support today?
Thanks for everything,
Brian
