When I first ran for office, I didn't do it because I wanted a career in politics. I did it because I couldn't sit back while our teachers were denied fair pay and our kids' futures were being shortchanged.
I stood up. I ran for school board. And I won in a county where Democrats are outnumbered two-to-one. From day one, extremists tried to silence me. They protested outside my home, threatened me, and even cheered when the Governor singled me out as a target.
But I refused to let my daughter see me give up while families across Florida – Republican or Democrat – needed someone to fight for them.
I'm an educator. My husband is a teacher. Who was gonna fight for us?
This will be a different kind of battle. There's so much on the line.
MAGA Republicans are stripping Florida Families and seniors from Medicaid, Social Security and critical food assistance.
Ron DeSantis and his cronies are redrawing new district lines to flip future elections in their favor – all while wasting millions of taxpayer dollars that should be going to lowering housing costs.
Trump is threatening to eliminate vote-by-mail – destroying the democratic tool that keeps our elections safe, secure and accessible. 3 million Floridians voted by mail in the 2024 election.
And Ashley Moody? She wasn't even elected. And yet she has voted to de-fund PBS, confirm Robert F. Kennedy, cut funding for food assistance, and is a huge advocate for Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill”.
But Florida is winnable.
I live here. I'm raising my daughter here. And I believe our state deserves leaders who are honest, fearless, and willing to fight for everyday people — not just the powerful and well-connected.
This campaign isn't just about winning one election. It's about proving that hope, integrity, and courage still matter — and about building a future where our kids can thrive.
