Hello and welcome to our weekly newsletter!
The Callie Barr Campaign is off to an incredible start, and I want to share what we’ve been up to – plus what’s ahead in the coming days. Thank you for being part of this movement.
We know that Jack Bergman does not represent us. He's fighting for the billionaire way of life - adding trillions to the national debt, giving tax breaks to his rich friends, and cutting funding for our rural hospitals, our schools, our families. And we can't afford it.
While he gets paid off by corporations and millionaires, we’re building a campaign rooted in fairness, community, and people power.
Let's fight for a future we can actually afford - together!
Issue Spotlight: Affording a LIFE

Across Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, families are working harder for less. In Congress, I will fight for you to be able to afford to live a LIFE:
* L ocal housing: It's harder to buy a house now than during the Great Depression. It shouldn't be that way. We need funding for local developers, zoning that makes sense, affordable building materials, and education that values the trades.
* I ncome: We're at the greatest period of income inequality EVER. To work, we need access to affordable childcare. We need strong labor protections, collective bargaining rights, investments that help small businesses and create good-paying, sustainable jobs here at home. And we need to protect Social Security for our seniors.
* F ood: Food prices are rising. Inflation is real. Tariffs are making it worse. We need to protect our farmers and local food supplies. Expand mobile markets. Protect food assistance programs. No child should go hungry in the wealthiest country on earth.
* E ssential care for our veterans and essential healthcare for everyone. Veterans shouldn't have to wonder whether we have their backs, and healthcare shouldn't depend on your zip-code. We have to reverse the Medicaid cuts that will decimate our rural hospitals. Fight to have the ACA subsidies expanded. Protect Medicare. We need a strong public option for healthcare. And, we need to fully fund the VA.
