What we know about Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
Political violence has no place in our nation. Now is the time to cool the rhetoric that has emerged after this assassination, and to work to make sure an event like this never happens again. |

Americans face biggest increase in health insurance costs in 15 years
The cost of health care premiums are rapidly growing more expensive, to the point where this rate of increase hasn’t been seen in fifteen years. Trump’s looming cuts to Medicaid will only make this situation worse, and will prevent Americans from accessing necessary medical care for them and their families. |

Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (202) 225-6576
Does Rep. Miller-Meeks support Trump’s tariff war? Prices are rising by the day, and unemployment is climbing along with it. How far do they have to go before she steps in and does something? Why is she standing idly by in Congress as Trump’s tariffs poison our economy instead of fighting for her constituents who are hurt by them? |

In spite of Iowa Republicans saying proposals to change IPERS are dead in the water, Iowa’s DOGE task force met one last time this week to recommend making changes to Iowa’s public workers retirement system. IPERS is one of the best and strongest public retirement systems in the country. Messing with people’s retirement income will not help Iowa’s economy, which is already among the worst in the nation. Our small businesses depend on retired public employees who live here in Iowa and spend money in their local communities. Iowa’s public employees keep our streets safe, our children educated and our communities vibrant. Iowa public workers have been paying into this system for years and they deserve a strong pension system like the one that currently exists.

In another blow to workers, Americans are facing the biggest spike in health insurance costs in 15 years. Enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits are set to expire at the end of 2025. Republicans say they have no interest in renewing those tax credits. Their next spending bill will drive up prices through the end of the year – when thousands of Iowans will potentially lose their health insurance plans. |
|
|
Iowa’s farmers are also speaking up about the damaging impact Trump’s tariffs are having on prices. As of September 10, the average price for a bushel of soybeans was $9.41 – a number that farmers say won’t cover the cost of production. Meanwhile, the farm bill expires at the end of the month – a fact Iowa Republicans are keeping quiet about.

Every day it’s becoming more clear Iowa Republicans are leaving working folks in the dust. Iowans deserve better. We need to elect leaders who will step up and make sure working families are getting their fair share and have an opportunity to live and retire with dignity.
