Congress starts countdown to another government shutdown. [[link removed]]

Last time President Trump shut the government down, it lasted 35 days — the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. And it looks like he and his flunkeys in Congress are getting ready to do it again, even though they hold the power in all branches of the government.

We want to be clear: Republicans did put forward a spending proposal at the beginning of the month. It makes ( more ) major cuts to vital programs that keep us all healthy and safe, a perfect representation of the GOP’s continuing assault on American life as we know it. And Mary Gay has made clear she’s not going to help them do it.

Let’s take a look at what their bill would “accomplish”:
* Decimate support for children in K-12 elementary schools
*
* Slash research into lifesaving medical research and cures
*
* Harm women’s health by cutting programs that support mothers and children
*
* Abandon college students and low-income workers by eliminating funding for need-based financial aid, adult job training, and adult education
*
* Surrender to ongoing health crises by cutting funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

Yeah — that’s a no from us.

And listen, we know democracy is about compromise. We’re willing to negotiate because the American people deserve better than a government shutdown. But we aren’t giving the GOP any votes on a budget that does nothing but harm our families while caving to extremists and special interests.

Are you with us? It takes just one click to add your name and let us know that you say yes to negotiation and no to the Republican shutdown. [[link removed]]ADD MY NAME [[link removed]]

We deserve better — and we’re going to fight for it.

The contemporary political landscape is filled with progressive women who are running for elected office up and down the ballot, who possess a true vision of equality for this country's future. A Woman's Place seeks to support their efforts by providing financial resources to embrace this tongue-in-cheek idea of what a woman's place should be.
We help put women where they belong: positions of political leadership throughout all levels of government.
