In 2022, I ran in the special election for Alaska’s at-large congressional seat, defied the odds to win in a ruby red state, and became the first Alaska Native to ever serve in Congress!

Mary Peltola

Hi John, it’s Mary Peltola. Can I reintroduce myself?

I grew up far from any major cities, in places like Kwethluk and Bethel — communities with large populations of Alaska Natives, where we fish in the summers to fill our freezers with food for the year.

I was raised to value our freedom, and to protect our way of life. And I firmly believe we have an obligation to build a secure future for our children and the generations to come.

So when a special election was called to succeed my friend, the late Congressman Don Young, I entered the race to serve my community. At the time, political “experts” said I had no real chance at winning, but that didn’t stop me. So I kept up the fight, and defied the odds to become the first Alaska Native to represent our state in Congress.

In Congress, I worked across the aisle and overcame partisan gridlock to bring home big wins for Alaska, and to secure a strong future for our state. I brought home $46 million in funding to secure our Alaska border, gave servicemembers the largest pay raise in over a decade, created high-paying union jobs for Alaska’s working families, and so much more.

I believe those are the kind of issues we need to be focusing on in Congress. We need to bring more wins home for working families instead of playing politics.

That’s why today, I’m reaching out and asking you to support ModSquad.

ModSquad is helping elect commonsense, moderate leaders to Congress who are focused on kitchen table issues that we all care about at home — from lowering everyday costs and creating new jobs to protecting access to affordable health care. The kinds of leaders who are laser-focused on solving problems, not fueling division.

But these races are competitive, expensive, and too important to lose.

If you agree we need to elect leaders who put people over politics and who can win in the toughest races, then I’m asking you to make a donation to ModSquad today →

Listen, partisan gridlock and politicking are interfering with Congress getting things done.

We need leaders in Congress who will cut costs for families, create good-paying jobs, and build up the middle class. But as long as chaos and partisan gridlock rule in Washington, we won’t be seeing legislation that actually benefits working families pass anytime soon.

Look, I'm from rural Alaska, where we have real day-to-day challenges. The status-quo in D.C. simply isn’t working for people like us, and that tells me we need to do things differently.

That’s where ModSquad comes in.

ModSquad is already in the field, supporting candidates who will put the focus on families and kitchen table issues, not get lost fighting nonsense culture wars.

We need to show our children that there is a future where this country can get things done for all Americans. And that starts by electing leaders who know how to roll up their sleeves and deliver real progress for our families, not just say the right things to get elected.

So please, if you support ModSquad’s mission, make a donation of any amount today to help us elect moderate leaders who will deliver real solutions for the American people →
