Annually, the Institute seeks applications for civics and history teachers who are making an outsized impact in their community. This year, we are happy to announce Veronica Pitts of Selma High School in Selma, AL, as the 2025 National Civics Teacher of the Year!

After being nominated, Pitts submitted an essay detailing her opinion on the importance of teaching civic education and participated in an interview with BRI staff showcasing her personal experience not only teaching civic education, but inspiring and encouraging her students to make change and speak up about the world around them.

Tomorrow, we celebrate the 238th anniversary of the Constitution and on July 4, 2026, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The Bill of Rights Institute wants to provide you with constant tools and resources to help highlight these momentous occasions. Our Pocket Constitutions include copies of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and  quotes from our Founders in a portable booklet.
