Today is National Voter Registration Day and it’s about more than just signing up to vote. It’s about building a democracy that truly represents us all.
Right now, women are still drastically underrepresented in government:
• Just 28% of Congress
• Only 24% of governors
• 34% of state legislators
• And just 25% of mayors in major cities
Even more alarming, half of U.S. states, including Florida, earned a “D” grade in 2025 for women’s representation, according to RepresentWomen’s Gender Parity Index.
That’s why the work of Ruth’s List is so urgent. We recruit, train, and elect pro-choice Democratic women to office across Florida because representation still matters. But none of that matters if people don’t vote.
