I’m Wiley Nickel, and today, I’m announcing my campaign for Wake County District Attorney — because the stakes for our community, and our democracy, have never been higher.

Right now, we’re watching Donald Trump and right-wing extremists try to tear down our institutions and take away our freedoms. In moments like this, we need prosecutors who will stand up for our rights, hold the powerful accountable, and keep our justice system fair and independent.

That’s why I’m running to serve the public again.

As a Wake County attorney, former Obama White House official and Congressman, I’ve spent my career fighting for justice, public safety, and our democratic values. I’ve taken on corrupt politicians, defended abortion access, and fought to lower costs for working families.

Now, I’m running for Wake County District Attorney to bring that same fight home — to deliver real accountability, protect public safety, and restore trust in our local justice system.

I’m running to make Wake County’s justice system:

* More fair, so that everyone is treated equally under the law.
* More accountable , so the system works for people, not just for power.
* More focused on real public safety, increasing support for police and first responders, reducing violent crime, standing up for victims, and addressing root causes.
