![]() I want to say something that may sound a little odd coming from a member of Congress, but I think you’ll agree: Elections aren’t only about the candidates on the ballot or the political party they belong to. Elections are about consequences — both positives and negatives. In general, I like to focus on the positive consequences of winning an election: The progress we can make, the freedoms we can protect, and the lives we can save. But if this year has taught us one thing, it’s this: The negative consequences of losing an election are enormous. Because Democrats lost an election last year, so many LGBTQ+ kids have lost their support systems. Families are struggling to put food on the table. Thousands of Coloradans will lose their health insurance. Elections are about choices — and next year’s midterms couldn’t be more consequential.
