InSight Crime invites you to read a new two-part investigation into violence in Rosario, the epicenter of organized crime in Argentina.

After the introduction of new security policies at the end of 2023 —the city's most violent year— Rosario then recorded its lowest number of homicides in ten years in 2024. This relative peace seems to be holding this year, with fewer homicides than in years past, but security is a complex issue.

In the first article, InSight Crime spoke with residents of Rosario's outlying neighborhoods, which have been the hardest hit by organized crime.

For the second report, we visited the Piñero prison, near Rosario, where the incarcerated population is ballooning. We analyze how the government of Santa Fe Province, where the city of Rosario is located, is attempting to maintain control over members of criminal groups by increasing the isolation of high-profile inmates and building new facilities, such as the one known as "Hell”.

** We want to continue unmasking organized crime across the region.
