We started these voting weeks in DC with our foot on the gas: Mike Johnson tried to make Americans forget about the Epstein files before our summer recess last month, but it didn’t work.

We began the month by inviting survivors of Epstein’s abuse to testify before members of Congress and they’ve made it clear: the files need to be released fully and abusers need to be held accountable. Republicans may try to shove this under the rug, but I won’t rest until justice is served.

Just before we got back, I returned to the Eloy Detention Center to talk with detainees about the conditions in the facility. Detainees, many of whom are being held there without having been charged with a crime, are reporting racist and inhumane treatment by ICE staff, and disgusting conditions that have led to illness and disease. Worst of all, sick people are experiencing extreme negligence, like Yari Rodriguez Marquez, who is currently battling leukemia and has lost over 55 pounds during her imprisonment. She has yet to see the doctors she needs to see to fight this disease.

I’m doing everything I can to stand up to Trump’s extremism and this authoritarian administration. Which means that there will be even more eyes on our next public fundraising report — right-wing groups looking to expand Republicans’ historically narrow majority in the House are looking for any sign of weakness.

That’s why we need the strongest report possible, John. It’s not about how much we raise, but how many people are willing to step up. Can I count on you today?
