John, some people want you to believe that the only way to improve our country is by dragging our people backward.
Slashing food assistance. Gutting health care. Stripping away rights.
I say that they couldn’t be more wrong.
We don’t make this nation better by giving more to a few and making things worse for the many. We don’t create a better path by revoking the rights Americans hold dear.
I am ready to defend those rights, John — and to stand up for democracy against those who would prefer to hold power at any price.
