Friend:

Donald Trump lost the popular vote by over 3 million votes. He’s still President of the United States. This has happened twice in the last 20 years. Does that sound like real democracy to you?

Every person should have equal say in who the President is, but they don’t. Because of the archaic Electoral College, states with lower populations have de facto greater representation (mostly due to the Senate, but we’ll not get into that right now.)

In practice, that weights the votes of white voters over voters of color, simply because of the demographics of the lower population states in this country. That’s institutionalized racial injustice, and it shapes the very top of our government.

But that’s not the way things have to be. We can have a “one person, one vote” system — if we abolish the electoral college. If you want real democracy in America, sign your name here:

And it’s not just racial disparities — voters across the country effectively have their voices erased. Millions of Democrats in Texas equal zero electoral votes? Millions of Republicans in California have no impact? That’s not real democracy.

Facts are facts. If we want real democratic rule in America, the Electoral College has to go.
