Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court made yet another terrible ruling that throws our rights out the window and sides with the Trump administration.
In response to a lawsuit stemming from rampant ICE raids in Los Angeles, the Court ruled that ICE can legally target people based on race and ethnicity, lifting a federal judge’s restraining order.
Every conservative justice just gave ICE the green light for racial and ethnic profiling as they violently stop, detain, and disappear people across the country.
In her scathing dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor called the order "unconscionably irreconcilable with our nation’s constitutional guarantees.”
She further warned that this could put the Fourth Amendment in jeopardy, and said, “We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low-wage job."
