John: Did you know that before I was a Representative in the House, I taught high school chemistry? That I’m also an engineer?

While there may not seem to be a connection between these jobs, I can tell you this: My STEM education has been instrumental to my career as a public servant, from knowing how to look at data, to rejecting misinformation, to questioning one’s own biases.

But as you read this, President Trump, RFK Jr, and so many others in this administration are firing scientists and wiping out programs, including slashing the U.S. National Institutes of Health's budget in half and defunding the National Science Foundation. All with the help of congressional Republicans.  

Now more than ever, we need more solution-oriented, logic- and data-based approaches to setting policy and passing laws that will help families in Pennsylvania and across the region. I'm doing my part. 

Most recently, I started the BIOTech Caucus to raise awareness of the strength in all-things-biology of other countries - and our country’s very real risk of falling behind - and to promote solutions that make us stronger economically and improve our national security.

I’m committed to defending the principles of inquiry and truth in the House, but I can't do it alone. Ahead of my mid-month deadline tonight, can I count on you to chip in $5 to ensure I can fight for evidence-based change?
