Cleveland - Mike Gibbons, founder of Brown, Gibbons, Lang died unexpectedly of a heart attack while visiting his son overseas. Gibbons, who ran for US Senate in Ohio twice, was best known as a self-made Cleveland businessman. He was an accomplished investor, builder of wealth for clients and jobs for workers. Mike was born in 1952 in Parma and excelled at football and wrestling at Saint Edward H.S. & Kenyon College. He supported many local and national charities with his money, his time and counsel.
“Mike Gibbons was a true patriot and a friend of the Ohio TEA Party Movement,” said Tom Zawistowski, President of the We the People Convention. “Mike Gibbons was one of us. He believed with all his heart in our Constitution, in our rights and values as Americans, and in the American people. He attended our meetings all over Ohio, listened to our members, donated to our causes, and encouraged us in our fight to defend our nation against the incursions of the radical communist left.”
Zawistowski continued: “He told us that when his son Ryan joined the Navy and became a fighter pilot, he felt that he had to do more for our nation, so he decided to run for the U.S. Senate from Ohio — twice. Mike was not cut out to be a politician. He was too honest. He spoke from the heart and didn’t spew poll-tested talking points. He fell prey to dirty political tricks that an honest man would never expect from supposedly honest people. He would have been a great Senator because he was authentic and honest, and that is why we supported him.”
Zawistowski concluded: “I will miss the always lengthy and thoughtful conversations that we would have — and that he would have with so many leaders in Ohio. We are all better for having known him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his amazing wife, Diane, who herself is a true Patriot, and to their children and extended family. Mike was a devout Catholic, and we take solace in the fact that Mike is now in Heaven and will have eternal peace.”
