Good morning, John - it’s Scott Colom, candidate for U.S. Senate in Mississippi.

Today is a big day.

September 15th. We are halfway through the month and halfway to our very first FEC public fundraising deadline.

In a few weeks, my team will have to report how much money we’ve raised publicly, and from how many donors. It’s a major test of strength for our campaign.

If you’ve been waiting for the most important moment to make your first contribution to my campaign, now is the moment. I’m respectfully asking you to chip in $7 to make sure we can have the strongest possible FEC report.

Today is a natural moment for us to take stock of everything we’ve accomplished since our launch at the beginning of the month.

We’ve set some very ambitious goals for ourselves. And we won’t be able to hit them without your help. These goals are going to inform our fundraising strategy for the entire campaign going forward.

This is a benchmarking process. The more money we’re able to raise before this report, the more we can budget for raising in future months.

Raising more here means reaching more Mississippians!

That’s especially important since my opponent, Cindy Hyde-Smith, has a massive head start on our fundraising. We need to show that we’re a serious challenger now, at the very beginning of the campaign.
