"Congress must pass the HEROES Act and protect nursing homes from Donald Trump’s mismanagement, which has killed more than 50,000 seniors."

John,
The nursing home crisis is all Donald Trump's fault.
A new investigative report, prepared by staff of the Senate Committee on Aging, reveals the depths of mismanagement from the Trump administration as the pandemic ripped through senior centers, creating a horrific death toll.1
The mass deaths in nursing homes were preventable―and with COVID resurgent across America, we MUST demand action from Congress to protect seniors in nursing homes!
The Associated Press estimates that nearly 52,500 nursing home and long-term care residents have died from the virus―more than 40% of all deaths.
While Congress allocated $175 billion in emergency funding for health care facilities in March, nursing homes didn’t receive aid until May. That means two months passed with NO additional aid for facilities that were hit hardest―even though the very first U.S. outbreak occurred in a nursing home in Washington state.
While the country locked down in mid-March, FEMA didn’t distribute PPE supplies to nursing homes until the end of April, and some of what it delivered was faulty and unusable.2
Donald Trump is already trying to pin the blame on Democratic governors who were in the hardest hit early states. But this report shows the truth: The blame goes right to the White House. Sign now to DEMAND that Congress take action to address the nursing home crisis!
The HEROES Act, passed by the House of Representatives a month ago, contained several provisions aimed at addressing the nursing home crisis. But like so much other good legislation, the HEROES Act is languishing in Mitch McConnell’s Senate, as he seeks to shield private equity-backed nursing home owners from liability for the people killed in their care.
SIGN NOW: We need to pass the HEROES Act now and address the nursing home crisis!
Thanks,
Alex Lawson
