** To Still Love the World
------------------------------------------------------------

September 15, 2025

In a poem I once brought into class when I taught at the college level, teacher Ellen Bryant Voigt wonders, “who am I to teach the young,/ having come so far from honest love of the world.” That’s a sentiment many of us may be feeling right now. As political events spiral out of our control, and we watch the world transform into something we may barely recognize, let alone love, how do we hold onto who we are as a country, and who we are as people?

In this issue of Justice This Week, we are finding ways to still love the world, from seemingly simple actions like getting and using a public library card to the big picture planning of storm preparedness in cities. We are exploring ways to fight, to plan, and to still find joy.

The world still needs us and now, more than ever, we can do our part to protect it.
