Dear
John
,

You amazing people!

We asked you to make birthday cakes for the NHS with an anti privatisation message.

You are blowing us away with so many cakes of all shapes and sizes, your astonishingly impressive baking and your inspired messages for OUR NHS on its 72nd birthday.

THANK YOU to everyone who's made a cake so far...
Have a look at the cakes! ([link removed])
This week we are spreading the word about your cakes - we're getting in touch with the press, politicians and celebrities. Let us know if you know anyone famous! Let's make this big!

Here's how you can help

If you've already made a cake - THANK YOU! We were really thrilled to see your beautiful cakes. This week we'll be sending your cake photos to journalists to build momentum for this piping protest! If you haven't already, it'd be amazing if you could send your cake picture to your local newspaper to bang home the message to your MP and community.

If you haven’t had a chance to make a cake yet, it’s not too late!
You can help us make this so big that the government can't ignore it.
Just make or buy a cake. Find a way to add an anti-privatisation message (whether its taking a slice out, or adding decoration). Once you’ve made your cake, send us a photo as soon as you can - the deadline is the NHS's birthday this Sunday 5th July. More info here:
Put pressure on the government to end privatisation - by baking! ([link removed])
Plus this weekend on the NHS's anniversary...

If you're based in London, you can join the candlelit vigil on Friday 3rd July ([link removed]) .

Wherever you are in the country, you can join the rally on Sunday 5th July ([link removed]) .
We’re working with Keep Our NHS Public, Health Campaigns Together, the People's Assembly and Build Back Better to give the NHS a birthday to remember.

Let's celebrate our NHS and send a clear message to this government.

They should be funding OUR NHS properly and reinstating it as a fully public service after this crisis. NOT handing out slices to private companies.

We're seeing right now what happens with private companies like Deloitte and Serco running testing and tracing. More on that soon...

A few comments from some of you about your cakes ([link removed]) :

“Banana Cake! Hope that’s ok!
Will send to MP also & other suggested recipients. It’s immoral to make money out of health care!”

“I am posting these pictures as a protest to slicing up Our NHS like a cake.
5 members of my family have had their lives saved from various cancers and pancreatitis. Who at the time of illness would not have survived if we had to pay or rely on insurance’s which we could not afford. But all have gone onto work and contribute to national economy...
Please Stop Cutting Up and Selling Off Parts Of the NHS
Reinstate our NHS and fund it properly!!”

“Delicious Orange Polenta cake!
Going fast (like the NHS)”

“Dear Prime Minister & Members of Parliament
The growing privatisation of the NHS is undermining the service's core values. Please stop giving private companies slices of this valuable resource.”

“As a dual nationality citizen, American/British, I have more reason than most to understand why we do not want any further infiltration into our NHS from the American government ever.”

“We baked a beautiful cake for the NHS, with fresh cream and sprinkles and a cherry on top. It’s OUR National Health Service and we think everyone who works in it are total heroes, we really do. But it was such a nice and yummy cake that we decided to eat it and leave only the crumbs for everyone else. That’s ok isn’t it?”

“I am the same age as the NHS. I am horrified at the huge slice of our money that goes to private companies and therefore to shareholders‘ dividends. SERCO doing contact tracing is particularly worrying given their terrible track record including falsifying data in a previous contract. Keep our NHS for people not profit!”
