Friend,

Last month, I sat down with our fundraising team and discovered
something troubling: People were canceling the automatic, recurring
donations made through their credit cards or bank accounts.

We knew that the economic crisis triggered by the coronavirus pandemic
could lead to a reduction in charitable giving because that's what we
saw during the Great Recession. This was the first sign that it was
happening again.

Let me say: If you were one of the people who was forced to cancel your
recurring donation, please know that we understand how difficult these
times are, and we are forever grateful for the support you've given us.

But recurring donors are critical, and losing them could affect our
long-term financial stability. It's a gut punch at a time when we must
be on the beat every day holding the powerful accountable.

Thankfully, we just got some great news to help us close the gap. One of
our most generous long-term supporters has offered to match any small
donation made to help us reach our $75,000 fundraising goal.

We're still $27,000 shy of our Mid-Year Fundraising Drive goal. Will you
make a donation to Common Dreams right now and get your donation matched
100%?
