Last week, Governor Hochul spoke from the pulpit of a predominantly Black church, and warned families not to spend their rebate checks at the liquor store.
It was demeaning. It was racist. And it’s a part of a pattern with her.
Last year, she claimed young Black kids in the Bronx didn’t even know what the word ‘computer’ was.
Words matter, especially when they come from the highest office in our state.
Black families in the Bronx, Buffalo, and across New York don’t need lectures or insults. They need respect. They need investment. They need a governor who will fight for affordable housing, universal childcare, and healthcare for all – the real tools to build a better future.
Instead, Kathy Hochul has spent her time acting as the self described “therapist in chief” for the ultra-wealthy.
She’s worried about the ultra-wealthy potentially leaving our state, while ignoring the very real affordability crisis that is already driving working families to move away.
My campaign for governor has real plans to tackle that affordability crisis, and to invest in the people of our state.
I’m hopeful that you’ll join me in working to make New York a better place.
Gratefully yours,
Antonio Delgado
