Medicaid protects low-income and at-risk Americans -- including children, pregnant mothers, the elderly, and the disabled.
And right now, the program is struggling to survive the current crisis.
NPR reports that, “State Medicaid directors say that without immediate funding, many of the health facilities that serve Medicaid patients could close permanently.”
Meanwhile, Medicaid's sister program -- Medicare -- is set to reach insolvency by 2026.
Medicare and Medicaid officials from both sides of the aisle have already petitioned the federal government for help but have received no response. If these programs go under, it would mean that the roughly 40% of children across America protected by them would lose their coverage.
That can’t happen, now or ever. Please, stand up for the vulnerable along with us -- before it’s too late.
