Team,
Immigration is unquestionably healthy for American society and the economy.
As a nation, we should be welcoming more people who are willing to work hard and contribute to American society by expanding legal immigration.
But our current immigration system is outdated and broken. The last significant legislative reform was in 1986. This has left immigrant communities vulnerable to bad political actors who villainize and use their communities as scapegoats.
The Trump administration’s targeted mistreatment of this demographic is nothing short of deplorable. Immigrants are being kidnapped from their homes, churches, and places of work by masked ICE agents. Birthright citizenship, a right enshrined in our Constitution through the 14th Amendment, is also being challenged through an executive order — yet another attack rooted in bigotry.
My Independent campaign for the U.S. Senate is about strengthening our democracy and helping out working folks, specifically to enable a future where these discussions can take place — where human rights are respected, and where immigrants are not used as a tool of political theater.
I think America can do better for the people who live here, whether they’re citizens or immigrants, and my campaign is about fighting for the necessary reforms to do just that.
If you stand with me, will you please chip in to my Independent Senate campaign today?
Thank you,
Brian
