Hi John,
When I worked for President Obama, I learned something I’ll never forget: real leaders don’t wait for change. They fight for it.
I’ve carried that lesson from the White House to the State Senate, to Congress, and right here in Wake County as a defense attorney. In every role, I’ve stood up for people who needed someone in their corner — whether it was defending voting rights, taking on special interests, or helping a client who’d been treated unfairly by a system that’s supposed to deliver justice for everyone.
Some of my proudest moments have been right here at home, helping folks from marginalized and underserved communities navigate a criminal justice system that can be complicated, intimidating, and sometimes deeply unfair. I’ve seen how we can keep people safe while also making sure our justice system treats everyone fairly and compassionately.
I’m not done fighting for those changes. In fact, I feel like we’re just getting started.
In the months ahead, I’ll be talking more about how we can make real change right here in Wake County, and how I can help in that effort.
We’ve done big things together before. And with your help, we’ll do even more in the future.
— Wiley
