I’m a proud daughter of Selma, and it’s the honor of a lifetime to represent Alabama’s 7th District in Washington. Our communities are steeped in the history of the Civil Rights movement — from John Lewis’ brave march in the face of police violence in Selma to the Children’s Crusade in Birmingham.

Alabama’s brave warriors for civil rights won many victories, including the Voting Rights Act of 1965. But over the past fifteen years, right-wing judges have hollowed out this landmark legislation, allowing Republicans to suppress voters and rig the rules of our elections.

The American people are seeing the consequences of Trump’s reckless agenda. These extreme Republicans know they can’t win fair and square, so they’re trying to rig next year’s midterm election to stay in power — including potential redistricting right here in Alabama.
