Want to know a dirty little secret in American politics? Nearly every member of Congress isn’t actually at risk of losing a general election.

Frankly, a lot of political fundraising emails like to hide that fact. And I know you’ve seen them too: A politician who just won re-election by 40 points, claiming that they’re DOOMED in the next election unless you donate.

In reality, just a few dozen of us in Washington represent truly competitive districts. And I’m one of them.

Here in CA-47, neither Democrats nor Republicans dominate the voter rolls. Instead, every election comes down to how much we out-work, out-hustle, and yes, out-raise our opponents in the months leading up to Election Day.

With all of this in mind, can you chip in to help me hold this must-win seat?

The average race for Congress is a 30-point blowout. That means most campaigns have the luxury of fundraising year-round, then waiting until the last few weeks before Election Day to make a small ad buy, print a few mailers, and hold a couple events without ever having to worry about the outcome.

But we don’t have that luxury. Why? Because my last election was decided by two points, not twenty.

This may sound a little odd, but elections like these aren’t really decided on Election Day. They’re decided in the days, weeks, months, and years leading up to it. And that’s why I really need your help.
