If you’re watching the news or reading headlines, you know as well as I do that nothing good is coming out of Washington right now. I understand why the last thing people want to think about is an election that’s more than a year away.
People just want to go about their lives—care for their friends and families, make a decent living, and pursue the things that bring them joy, fulfillment, and happiness. I want the same for the hardworking folks of Colorado’s Eighth District.
We deserve good public schools for our children, access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, and the opportunity to live in the same communities where we work. We also deserve leaders who act in the best interest of their constituents, not their own political ambitions.
Frankly, we deserve a hell of a lot better than what we’re getting right now.
It’s why I’m running for Congress: to retire Republican Gabe Evans, put his best friend, Lauren Boebert, back in the minority, and restore real leadership to Colorado’s Eighth District.
These issues are personal to me. I worked for 24 years as a math, science, and education teacher at Heath Junior High School in Greeley. I know firsthand the challenges students, educators, and parents face when budgets get cut. Instead of leaders working to strengthen public education, we have an administration abolishing the Department of Education and attacking higher education. And our Congressman Gabe Evans is twiddling his thumbs, enabling it every step of the way.
My sister Dorothy has been living with severe disabilities her entire life. My family supported her through this as much as we possibly could, but her needs are substantial and costly. Medicaid has been a lifeline for us; without it, caring for Dorothy would be next to impossible. Instead of ensuring that his constituents get the healthcare they need, Gabe Evans voted to cut Medicaid funding by nearly $1 trillion—cuts that will be felt far and wide, including here in CO-08.
Our pockets are getting pinched, and small businesses are cutting jobs and pulling back investments, thanks to the chaos and uncertainty caused by Trump’s economic policies. Congress could do something about it, but Republicans like Gabe Evans don’t seem to care as long as they can stay in the President’s good graces.
I’m in this race to cut the bullsh*t.
As one of our country’s most competitive districts, we deserve a leader who will put our interests first, not billionaire donors or massive corporations. Whether as an educator, a union leader, a state representative, or state treasurer, my mission has stayed rock solid—fighting to make life better for Colorado’s working families and their children. I’m ready to take that fight to Congress.
