Dear John,

I hope you are all looking forward to the sizzling summer weather this bank holiday weekend.

While Parliament has broken up for the summer, there is still lots to do out and about across Burton and Uttoxeter, and I have been taking the opportunity to get out and meet people in the constituency.

As always, if you have any issues or concerns that you would like to discuss with me then please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing [email protected].
Best wishes,

Andrew Griffiths
Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter
Out with the Police

I was pleased to join East Staffordshire Police for 'Operation Disrupt'. This was a major initiative involving over 80 officers aimed at hitting the criminals and putting them on the back foot.

The raids across Burton & Uttoxeter saw 17 people arrested by the police in a dawn till dusk operation on charges from drug dealing, possessing indecent images of children and breaking licence conditions.

Thank you to East Staffordshire Police for all the vital work you do to keep our communities safe.
Beer Champion 2019 🍻

In Parliament I have always championed the brewing and pub

industry that is so important to so many jobs in Burton.

So I was delighted to have been presented with the Beer Champion

2019 Award by the body which represents Britain's brewers and pub

companies. I am very grateful that my efforts have been recognised.

Green Fingered Burton

I had a great time visiting the Mona Allotment Association for their annual show.

There was a stunning array of produce on display and an amazing turn out of

people.

It is always inspiring to see the produce that talented, green fingered people

can grow from a small patch of land, and I was presented with a bag of

gorgeous produce. Thank you to the Allotment Association for inviting me. I

can't wait to see what you have to show next year.
Curry House Opening

Anyone who knows me will know that I will never say no to a curry.

So I was delighted to join the Mayor & Mayoress of East

Staffordshire at the opening the new curry house, the Blue Burton.

The food was excellent and the opening was marked with Bollywood

singing and dancing. I am very much looking forward to my next trip

there. You should give it a try too.
A warm welcome at the Pirelli⚽

As regular readers of this newsletter will know, I have been totally inspired by

my constituent Nick Brittlebank, who is battling Motor Neurone Disease. So it

was a great honour to be invited, along with Nick & his family to the Pirelli

for the opening match of the season.

Thank you to Ben Robinson and Burton Albion for their wonderful hospitality.

The signs are looking good for the new season and I wish Nigel and the team

every success.
Protecting human rights Kashmir

Over 7000 Muslims in Burton originally come from the region of Kashmir.

Many have contacted me with concerns over human rights abuses

following the decision by India to remove freedoms and put the region

on lock down.

On Sunday I joined a community meeting to listen to the concerns

of Burtonians who have family and friends in the region. It was

encouraging to see over 150 people attend to add their voices to

all those calling on India to end the human rights abuses.
